Highlighting Some of Our Newest Residents

June 22nd, 2022

We feel so inspired by our residents. Each person, couple or family comes with stories to tell, smiles on their faces and the power to deeply enrich our community. We’re grateful that each of them chose to call Grande Dunes their new home, and we’re delighted to have them. Let’s take a moment for introductions!

Elton and Lisa Owens

Elton and Lisa were more than eager to trade the chilly Washington D.C. suburbs for sunshine and proximity to family. On their first visit, they were hooked by the beautiful amenity center, scenery and the welcoming community at Grande Dunes. Now they’re working with their custom builder team to create their dream house on a Waterside Edge homesite. In the meantime, they have already met other Grande Dunes residents and experienced that instant camaraderie –– the Ocean Club and the beautiful amenity center at Del Webb are perfect places to connect with  new neighbors, meet up with new friends and host family.

The Mellody Family

John, Kate and Sydney Mellody are all about hospitality within their family and community. Their collective and individual interests led them to the welcoming neighborhoods found at Grande Dunes. John’s interest in learning golf on some of the best courses in South Carolina didn’t hurt, either –– especially knowing that residents who are part of the Members Club can play on any Troon Privé course in the state. Many such aspects of their new home went above and beyond their expectations. They love the area’s world-renowned southern hospitality blended with the myriad of options for physical activity.

Dan and Shervita Love

Grande Dunes made this couple’s wish for an extraordinary condo come true –– on Valentine’s Day! Dan, a dual Air Force and Navy veteran, and his wife fell in love with their Villa Marbella home as soon as they stepped through the door. “This is the one,” Dan exclaimed, and Shervita shook her head in agreement. “You get a little bit of everything in one place,” Shervita smiled, “the ocean, the club, the people and the proximity to everything. You get the whole package.”

Sean Grady and Debra Thurs

Sean and Debra are comfortable doing whatever feels best for them. So it makes perfect sense that when asked what attracted them to Waterside Pointe, Sean and Debra answered, “It just felt right.” They’ve had their eye on the grande life for a long time now, after visiting three years ago to participate in a “Stay and Play” weekend at Del Webb. When an existing home in the area –– featuring their favorite floor plan plus a pool and a hot tub –– suddenly became available, they knew it was time to come home.

John and Pam Barrett

John and Pam Barrett knew that their retirement home had to meet one essential need — water. They got much more by choosing Grande Dunes. A warm climate, proximity to the beach and thriving community all came with Living Dunes. The pair could not be more pleased with the social nature of their neighborhood. From game nights to pool parties, Pam says, “The sense of community that I have gotten from Living Dunes is nice.” No matter what the activity, the water still calls, and these two always answer.

Bob and Leigh Cutrone

For Bob and Leigh Cutrone, the move to Myrtle Beach was a once-in-a-lifetime quest for their forever home. This adventurous, active and well-traveled couple now hopes for a slightly slower pace. The Cutrones became one of The Cape’s very first residents, happily settling into one of the neighborhood’s new Dutch-style houses. They love the Myrtle Beach area as well as the centrality and convenience of their neighborhood within Grande Dunes. Most of all they appreciate the community’s fun and laid back atmosphere. “We are just ready to relax,” laughed Leigh. “We found our forever home.”

Henry and Sharon Birnbaum

Henry and Sharon Birnbaum agree that the Grande Dunes lifestyle is “just another day in paradise!” When comparing their native New Jersey with their lovely new home in Del Webb, the upgrade is a dream come true. The pair recalls investigating a variety of South Carolina homes before Del Webb checked all their boxes for retirement living. From there, the decision to move to Myrtle Beach was quick and easy. When it came to making Myrtle Beach their home, the couple says, “everything just fell into place.”
