Grande Living: The Ocean Club

September 23rd, 2019

If you ask everyone in Grande Dunes what was one of the reasons they chose to move to our amazing community, you might find a very common answer – our beautiful beach. At the Ocean Club, we’ve enhanced that amazing experience even more. As every Grande Dunes Property Owner is automatically a member, the Ocean Club has become synonymous with Grande Dunes living thanks to its incredible pools, delicious seasonal dining and entertainment. Of course, its Mediterranean-style architecture has become a beautiful tall-standing landmark on our beach and a beacon for the lifestyle Grande Dunes stands for. The Ocean Club is considered a hub of activity and social fun in Grande Dunes. Whether you’re enjoying private beach access with exclusive cabanas, playing a game of ping pong with your family or hosting your own private party, this is the place that defines Living Grande.

MEET THE TEAM

We spoke with Peggy Davis, our Lifestyle Director, about all the amazing elements members should experience at the Ocean Club.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY FOR NEW MEMBERS TO GET INVOLVED?

PD: Join a club, group or activity or attend a social function. Do something that makes you happy and gets you walking out your front door. That’s how you meet new people! Also, embrace the idea of trying something. You may surprise yourself what you’ve been missing!

WHAT GOES INTO PLANNING A SCHEDULE PACKED WITH FUN FOR THE OCEAN CLUB MEMBERS?

PD: Being consistent with the scheduling and offering a diverse and wide range of things to do so there is something for everyone. Residents have many ways to stay on top of what is going on by opening and reading their weekly Saturday newsletter, private Facebook page and more!

WHAT ARE THE MOST REWARDING ASPECTS OF BEING THE LIFESTYLE DIRECTOR?

PD: To see all the smiling faces and watch new friendships being fostered, has been very rewarding. I also receive so much encouragement from the residents when I see their support and participation. That is really the key to its success! Many have also become lifelong and good friends of my husband and I.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST ACTIVITIES/GROUPS TO PARTICIPATE IN AT THE OCEAN CLUB?

PD: We’ve had a variety of fitness classes but the most popular are Water Aerobics, Sit n’ Be Fit and now our newest one, Zumba Gold. They are all led and taught by certified instructors who are top-notch, insured and very professional. I offer Watercolor painting classes every Monday from 10-1:00 for all levels so whether you are advanced or a curious beginner, you will love this group of women and our wonderful instructor. We have a large variety of clubs e.g., Book Club, Photography, Fishing, Easy Riders Biking, Women’s Luncheon Club, Bunko and Bridge, Car Club, but the one that is growing the fastest, is the Travel Club! Currently, we have close to 100 members that we plan local day excursions for, weekend trips, as well as extended domestic and international travel!

Of course, I couldn’t do all of this without the help and leadership of our Club Ambassadors! They help make it all happen. If there is a special interest that you have, all it takes is for a resident to step forward and discuss the possibility of adding it to our list of clubs! Mahjong anyone??
