The New Green Tees at Grande Dunes Are a Hit!

September 15th, 2016

Perfect form! Venita Blackwelder hit the inaugural shot on the first day that the new Green Tees were put into play at the World-Class Grande Dunes Golf Club, in Myrtle Beach.

To make the challenging course more inclusive,McConnell Golf decided to invest in the new forward tee boxes so that novice golfers will be less intimidated, and also, to build confidence in the ‘tee game’ for both new and mature golfers. And the inaugural round, Labor Day Weekend, was a huge success!

Even with Tropical Storm Hermine soaking the Carolina Coast for some of the weekend,

the storm did not wash out the entire holiday. The calm after the storm allowed golfers to take full advantage of the new tee markers at the Grande Dunes Members Club on Sunday and Monday.

The monthly Couples Golf and Therapy round was a real hit. Pun intended! Then on Monday, golfers took part in the annual Labor Day Texas Scramble. This year’s event was played with a twist using the PGA’s initiative of Play it Forward campaign.

Sixty players enjoyed the tourney with all the men playing from the Gold Tees and all the ladies playing from the new Green Tees.

The winners: The team of Frank and Ellen Esposito along with Peter Hall and Jerry Newman! Their team accumulated an amazing 32 under par 110 bettering the second place team of Ed and Pam Sidlowsky, Mel Mellinger, and Wayne Joyce by three shots.

A fabulous weekend of golf showcasing McConnell Golf’s commitment to the enjoyment of game, with the newest forward tees, the Green Tees.
