The Season of Giving in Grande Dunes

November 19th, 2019

Giving to charitable causes and helping those in need in the Myrtle Beach area is deeply engrained in the culture of the Grande Dunes community. All throughout the year, our team, residents and neighbors come together to offer support and good will through a variety of ways. From our Grande Dunes Cares program to our events at Marina Park or one of our many other opportunities, we’re here to do our part. While this time of year is the Season of Giving, we consider it a “grand finale” of sorts, continuing our perpetual efforts in a meaningful way during the holiday season.

First and foremost, we are so excited to host a Santa Paws Pageant! On December 15 from 12-3 PM at Marina Park, this paw-tastic event will benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society and the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society. The long list of activities and fun includes kid games, Inflatables, the Polar Express Train ride, characters, petting zoo, face painting, stilt walker, animal balloons, and of course, pics with Santa in his workshop. The Pawmetto Pack Flyball Club will be doing live demonstrations and the kids can race against a Flydog to win a ribbon! There will be food trucks, vendors and lots of raffle prizes to win plus the Spin to Win game! The Dog Pageant will begin at 2:00 while our local celebrity judges choose the top 3 dogs based on best costume, originality, personality, and talent (tricks). Attendees can register their dogs at the Grande Dunes Cares Tent between 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM with their participation tickets. Our Local Celebrity Judges include Trey Paul with WPDE, Halley Morrow with WMBF, Meghan Miller with WBTW and Scott Richards with Easy 105.9 FM. Our MC will be Liz Callaway from 94.5 TALK. It’s all brought to you by our sponsor, Camp Bow Wow. The first 30 pageant contestants can register their pageant dogs at the Grande Dunes Cares Tent between 12:00- 1:30 who will receive a free T-shirt. The pageant will start at 2:00 pm judged by our local celebrities who will crown our top 3 pageant dogs!  FREE admission, tickets will be sold separately for activities.

Grande Dunes is proud to be the sponsor of an Angel Tree this year, in partnership with the Salvation Army. We are so excited to announce that our residents have already adopted all 30 angels. The plan is to purchase items from the sponsored child’s “needs list” as well as their “wish list.” Residents can drop their unwrapped gifts to the Ocean Club or Members Club by December 11. This is a great chance to give the gift of an unforgettable holiday season to a child in need in the Myrtle Beach community. We are so proud of our residents for moving quickly and ensuring every child that was represented on our Angel Tree by an ornament has been helped.

While the Angel Tree is already a huge success, we are also proud to be participating in the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program. We’re asking Grande Dunes residents and the Myrtle Beach community as a whole to generously contribute unwrapped toys for children ages 0-12 years of age and drop them off at the Ocean Club, Members Club or the Marina Ship Store by December 13.

It’s been a fantastic year at Grande Dunes, and we’re so excited to help children have the best holiday season yet this year. We encourage you to give what you can and join us as we work towards spreading joy throughout Myrtle Beach.
