Sew Thoughtful: Grande Dunes Residents Respond to COVID-19

What do sewing machines, scissors, wires, T-shirt yarn, and fabric all have in common? Sixty-six awesome volunteers and over 2,300 face masks! We are so proud of all our volunteers who sacrificed their time on the beach, reading a good book, spending time with their families, gardening, etc… to help us make a difference for our healthcare workers and first responders in the Myrtle Beach area. We started our “Mask Project” by partnering up with Britt Bird, the founder of MakeMasksforAmerica.org. She had the orders coming in and we had the volunteers to help meet the demand. We started our project in the first week of April and didn’t stop until the end of May.
We delivered to several medical facilities, nursing homes and to the City of Myrtle Beach for their first responders and city workers.
